North West Network for Human Evolution Research (The Network)
Description
The North West England Universities Consortium comprises researchers in Evolutionary Anthropology who convene regularly for seminars and social events. Building on the success of the Liverpool Evolutionary Anthropology Forum (LEAF), the Consortium brings together researchers from across North West England and surrounding areas who share an interest in human evolution across a range of subject fields, including Palaeolithic Archaeology, Palaeontology, Quaternary Science, Primatology, Cognition Evolution, and Evolutionary Psychology.
The University of Liverpool's Department of Archaeology, Classics, and Egyptology and Liverpool John Moores University's School of Natural Sciences and Psychology currently co-organise the Consortium.
The Network aims to facilitate the exchange of information and knowledge about human evolution research among researchers in the local and wider regions by:
- Establishing links between researchers in the North West and the local area
- Promoting collaborative research between member institutions and individuals
- Maintaining a list of regional specialists in the subject fields listed above
- Notifying members of local seminars, forthcoming events, and news
- Highlighting impressive research and achievements by Consortium researchers through an active newsfeed and annual newsletter
- Bringing North West researchers together at an annual event that will rotate around the network.
