The group's research develops improved methods for modelling, designing and monitoring structural and geotechnical systems using computational and experimental approaches.

Members aim to increase understanding of interactions between earthworks, vegetation and climate change and produce guidance for the safety and resilience of infrastructure.

The group's modelling and computational techniques for assessing the performance of new and existing structures under severe loading conditions have enhanced the accuracy of structural and geotechnical monitoring.

The group's research addresses:

• stability of slopes;
• reliability of soil-geosynthetic systems;
• enhanced sport infrastracture;
• digital photogrammetry and monitoring.
