Psycholinguistics@York
Description
Psycholinguistics@York constitutes a community of researchers at the University of York, converging on cognitive aspects of language skills and utilisation. Their research spans from phonetic perception minutiae and production to exploring the correlation between language development and sleep. It further delves into real-time language usage and comprehension, as well as the process of mastering a primary, secondary, or further language. Research methodologies are diverse, encompassing eye-tracking and pupilometry, Electroencephalogram (EEG) and psychophysiology, behavioural studies, cross-cultural analyses, focus groups, polysomnography in a sleep laboratory, acoustic analysis, and in-class studies. This network consists predominantly of staff and students from the departments of Language and Linguistic Science, Psychology, and Education, with emphasis on language acquisition, language and cognition, language comprehension, and language production.
