Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research (CTTR)
Description
The Centre for Transnational and Transcultural Research (CTTR) at Wolverhampton houses experts in various disciplines such as English Literature, Creative Writing, Religious Studies, Linguistics, Media Studies, Philosophy, and Politics. Its members produce world-leading research for the Research Assessment Framework (REF) subjects English Language and Literature (UoA27) and Area Studies (UoA25).
Launched in 2018, CTTR encourages interdisciplinary research, fostering collaborations across disciplines and sectors. It is involved in numerous public engagement activities, organises impact events, and actively encourages knowledge exchange. It collaborates closely with the Centre for Sikh and Panjabi Studies and a broad network of funders and partners.
Notable funders include the Arts and Humanities Research Council, the AHRC/BBC New Generation Thinkers scheme, the National Lottery Heritage Fund, among others. Partners range from the Wolverhampton Art Gallery, the Wolverhampton Literary Festival, the British Library to the NHS.
CTTR focuses on several research themes: 'Gender, Sexuality and Representation', 'Language, Power and Society', 'Culture across Borders', and 'Countercultural Perspectives'. Each theme promotes in-depth study, often exploring underrepresented or overlooked areas of society and culture.
