Research Centre for Transcultural Creativity and Education (TRACE)
Description
The Research Centre for Transcultural Creativity and Education (TRACE) is a research team that investigates and maps creativity across cultures. TRACE's mission is to enable the formation of new knowledge across cultures of creativity and education.
TRACE's work is:
- Transcultural - exploring the creative and educational journeys people take across cultures
- Transpersonal - examining how people use words, music, science, and art to communicate the human experience
- Translocational - working across locations to challenge the intersections of creativity, place, and time
- Transmedia - understanding how media, craft and technology are used to create and communicate knowledge
- Transformative - developing research and outputs that transform culture.
TRACE's mission is to support members and bring outstanding artistic work and transformative ideas to the world stage.
TRACE is a distributed research centre operating through a network of small labs, meet-ups, groups and studios.
TRACE is a member-led centre, and its research outputs are as varied as the people that form its transnational network.
TRACE's core research team, based in the Tack Room at Corsham Court, Bath Spa University, works with members to support talent, produce new work, educate audiences and share replicable models.
Through this activity TRACE seeks to enable members to produce original work for pleasure and for purpose, celebrating the art of co-creation and facilitating innovative ways of thinking and making together across more than one culture, epoch, subject or location.
