Latin America at Warwick Network (LAWN)
Description
The 'Latin America at Warwick Network' (LAWN) brings together an interdisciplinary team of scholars, connecting those with a focus on Latin America across the institution. A strong tradition of Latin American research at Warwick, extending almost to the institution's inception, has resulted in a robust community with interests across the Humanities, Social Sciences, Business and beyond. Established in 2018 with initial support from the Learning Development Centre's initiative for Research Active Staff networks, LAWN aims to foster collegiality, heighten the profile of the diverse Latin American studies and cultivate an environment for knowledge exchange. It accomplishes this through regular events, where academic staff, early career fellows, and doctoral students share ideas, instigate collaborative efforts, and derive benefit from mutual expertise.
LAWN’s interdisciplinary nature spans faculties such as history, economics, philosophy, literature, Hispanic studies, and politics. The research themes are extensive, ranging from dictatorships and the drug trade to international economics, health, human rights, civil society, histories of slavery, poetry, performance, and more. The network encompasses study of both the Latin American mainland and the Hispanic Caribbean.
