Black Studies Reading Group

Description

The Black Studies Reading Group, hosted by the History Department, provides a critical platform for the exploration of works by authors and activists of African lineage. This forum is open to undergraduate and postgraduate students, faculty, and external participants. With a blend of virtual and future physical gatherings, the group aspires to form a committed collective that critically engages with Black intellectual contributions in various formats.

The group convenes routinely to discuss readings and performances that delve into Black history, culture, and politics, placing emphasis on the extensive history of Black communities in the UK and the broader Atlantic region, as well as its diverse diasporic manifestations. Recommendations for readings, talks, and events are warmly welcomed, and participation from Black students and faculty is particularly encouraged.
