Centre for Archive and Information Studies (CAIS)

Description

The Centre for Archive and Information Studies (CAIS) is an international provider of professional postgraduate educational programmes in Archives, Records Management and related disciplines by online distance learning.

We teach by focusing on the core principles, theory, and practice that underpin Archives, Records Management and related disciplines. Our focus is very much on a mix of the theoretical and the practical. Students must be working or volunteering in an appropriate professional environment both prior to and throughout their studies so they can apply what they are learning.

Part of the School of Humanities, Social Sciences and Law its staff participate in a number of national and international professional and academic organisations. Tutors have a wide range of research interests and the Centre has developed a global interdisciplinary research network focusing on aspects of recordkeeping in the context of memories, identities and communities. Members also can provide bespoke onsite training, more information is available on request.

CAIS programmes and modules are accredited by the Archives and Records Association (ARA).
