Harmony Institute

Description

The Harmony Institute's objectives are to critically analyse traditional harmony philosophies, assess their application in the modern era, encourage education, support publications, organise events, and provide grants and scholarships.

The principle of the universe as a singular entity is intrinsic to both ancient philosophies and modern science, birthing the notion of 'Harmony' in the cosmos. This concept buttresses the belief that humans can exist harmoniously with the broader environment, echoing traditions from various cultures worldwide. These philosophies have practical implications in fields like health studies, education, business, architecture, agriculture, and conflict resolution, among others. The interdependence of all things underscores the importance of social justice and equality.

Established on 1 January 2019, the Harmony Institute arose from work initiated by former Welsh Environment Minister in 2015. The Well-being of Future Generations Act, pivotal to their mission, strictly applies to Wales, yet sets a global precedent. It subtly implies the interconnectedness of all entities and acknowledges the far-reaching effects of political, social, economic, and environmental decisions, both presently and in the future.

Inside and outside the University, the Institute engages in a wide range of activities and academic activities, including:
