Environmental Law and Sustainability Research Group (ELSRG)

Description

The Environmental Law and Sustainability Research Group (ELSRG) fosters research within environmental, sustainability, and natural resources law domains. Its members, drawn both internally and externally, assert that environmental issues intertwine with societal and legal factors. They aim to connect global sustainability challenges with community experiences, striving to develop innovative legal and policy solutions promoting harmony between societies and nature.

The group's primary goals include advancing research, enhancing teaching, and exploring law's role in contemporary environmental and sustainability challenges. The group supports its members' research and scholarship, fostering collaborations within the group, the university, and external institutions.

The ELSRG recognises the significance of collaboration and community involvement in addressing environmental and legal challenges. To this end, they frequently organise conferences, workshops, and guest lectures. They also actively engage with international organisations in this field, sharing academic insights and practical expertise. Members of the group contribute to several undergraduate and postgraduate courses. Additionally, ELSRG encourages student participation, endorsing student-led conferences and other activities.
