Centre for Water, Communities and Resilience (CWCR)

Description

The Centre for Water, Communities, and Resilience (CWCR) at UWE Bristol, unites inter-disciplinary groups working on various domestic and international water security initiatives. Their aim is to advance top-tier interdisciplinary research into severe weather, water risk, vulnerabilities, and community resilience.

CWCR concentrates on diverse themes reflecting the inter-disciplinary nature of concerns related to water risk, security, and community resilience development. Notable emphasis is placed on research at the junctures of four themes: Security, Policy and Governance; Water/Earth Science and Engineering; Community/Stakeholder Development and Resilience; and Representation, Perception, and Behaviour.

The unique proposition of CWCR lies in its 'community resilience' perspective on water security, with specific expertise in water-related hazards and climate change, drinking water, and human wellbeing, as delineated in the United Nations' Water Security infographic. UWE Bristol's global experiences provide opportunities for its students and staff to collaborate with local communities, both domestically and internationally.
