Description
The Centre for Transport Studies (CTS) is dedicated to advancing knowledge and impact regarding the interplay between mobility, lifestyles, and societal changes in the context of social, political and technological shifts. Their work encompasses all transportation modes, including pedestrian travel, and scrutinises both personal and freight mobility.
The Centre's strategic focus falls into eight thematic areas:

- Life Course Mobility: Investigating older individuals' mobility as influenced by their personal histories and aspirations.
- Inclusive, Low Carbon, Active Travel: Identifying barriers to and bolstering knowledge for enhancing such mobility options.
- Society and Motor Vehicles: Understanding societal and urban development in tandem with the growth of private car ownership.
- Sustainable Mobility Strategies: Strengthening their reputation in efficacious evaluation from scheme inception to post-completion impact monitoring.
- Technologies and Travel: Examining how information-communication technologies augment interactions with the real-time transport system.
- Sustainable Freight: Investigating challenges and opportunities for planning and designing eco-friendly freight transport systems.
- Attitudes and Behaviours: Utilising psychology and sociology to comprehend the theory of travel behaviour.
