Centre for Island Creativity

Description

Centre for Island Creativity is an interdisciplinary research centre in creative practice, material culture and the creative economy in remote and rural areas.

The Centre supports research, post-graduate taught learning and knowledge exchange across the wide diaspora of the highlands and islands of Scotland.

A core value is the recognition that remote locations where creative practitioners and thinkers choose to have their studio or production base are each a centre of research and graduate learning. Through the university's innovative use of Video Conferencing and IT, the Centre's base in Shetland UHI brings together a wide network of academic partners and mentors working in the creative and cultural industries.
