Scottish Centre for Victorian and Neo-Victorian Studies (SCVS)

Description

The Scottish Centre for Victorian and Neo-Victorian Studies, established in 2017, aims to foster Victorian culture and history studies in Scotland. It unifies individuals from Scottish academic institutions, libraries, and archives interested in the Victorian era. A collaborative initiative, its Steering Committee comprises representatives from the Universities of Stirling, Glasgow, and Strathclyde. Initially supported by the University of Strathclyde for the first three years, it hosted several events, notably co-hosting the British Association of Victorian Studies 2019 conference in Dundee. As of 2022, the University of Stirling took over the Centre's leadership.

Individuals based in Scotland working within Victorian Studies, or international researchers focusing on Victorian Scotland, are invited to become associates of the Centre.

The Centre is currently directed by Dr Michael Shaw.
