Centre for Minorities Research (CMR)

Description

The Centre for Minorities Research (CMR) is a vital initiative at the University of St Andrews. It unites expertise from across six schools and delves into the intricate aspects of minorities' everyday lives. The CMR is an interdisciplinary hub that scrutinises the interplay of various social factors such as class, ethnicity, gender, generation, nationality, religion, and sexuality, in shaping minority experiences. It embarks on applied research in social sciences and humanities, investigating political and social struggles of minority groups, the implications of diversity on the economy and labour market, and the governance and administration of minorities.

The understanding of multicultural futures will be of paramount importance for governments, international bodies, academic institutions, and the general public in the future. The CMR offers a sustainable platform for research, networking, and impactful activities, and facilitates outreach discussions that address complex questions about minority representation.
