Theory, Representation and Cultural Politics Research Group

Description

In the Theory, Representation and Cultural Politics Research Group, archaeological representation and community archaeology are some key aspects of the group's research and teaching. Theoretically, members concentrate in areas such as questions of social process, academic practice, gender, nationalism, the social construction of the body, and interpretatively focused artefacts science. They are interested both in previous constructions of archaeological knowledge and in the ongoing construction and representation of the discipline. Particular research topics include the body as material culture, food consumption, representations of Egypt, Rome and of the English landscape, scientific practice, Greek nationalism and heritage management.
