European Centre for Documentary Research (eCDR)

Description

Established in 2000 as the Centre for Photographic Research and now designated as the European Centre for Documentary Research (eCDR), eCDR provides a focus in Wales for high quality research in photography and film that builds on both its institutional heritage and internationally renowned scholarship. It aims to develop work that addresses both the cultural histories and the contemporary issues informing photographic and film-based documentary practices.

eCDR’s main areas of activity include:

  • Conferences, symposia and seminars, focusing on current research interests of Centre members
  • Publishing, exhibition and curating
  • International Fellowship programme
  • Funded projects from research councils including AHRC, The Leverhulme Trust, foundations and Sector agencies
  • Cross-cultural partnerships with the museum and gallery sector
  • PhD and Post Doctorate research
