Information knowledge and innovation management research group (KIM)
Description
Management of Information, Knowledge, and Innovation (KIM) focuses on the administration of practices and processes in vibrant, cooperative work environments across diverse organisations. Key initiatives include SMART sanitisation, Regional Technology Foresight, OrganiK (an organic knowledge management system), and 'Tools for life: data sharing and public health'. KIM concentrates on the management of information, knowledge, and innovation practices mainly in cooperative and vibrant work environments across various organisational and inter-organisational contexts. This group has a strong interdisciplinary nature, drawing on organisational and sociological theory, strategic management, information science, information systems, and information technology. They approach this area with a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives, emphasising interpretive approaches to discourse, knowledge, and power.
The research of the KIM group is centred around social practices, strategies, and systems. Social practices include the social dynamics of information and knowledge discovery, sharing, and transformation, organisational adaptation and knowledge sharing, boundary-spanning practices, and social networks and knowledge communities. Strategies cover knowledge and information management governance, knowledge absorption and innovation, and intangible asset valuation. Lastly, systems focus on systems in use, knowledge work and the digital workplace, social enterprise systems and innovation, systems evaluation and change management, and digital identity.
