Transnational Urban Outdoors research group

Description

The Transnational Urban Outdoors research group comprises academically trained and practicing landscape architects and urban designers, who also teach on professionally accredited courses. Their research focuses on the nuances of ethnic and cultural diversity in urban environments.

This group's objectives include:

  • Uncovering the aspects of landscape experiences, particularly how personal and community migration histories may shape values and preferences.
  • Exploring the usage patterns of public spaces and streets by individuals from varied backgrounds, and how such spaces may facilitate positive intercultural interactions.
  • Investigating how the increasing super-diversity within urban populations should be reflected in landscape architecture and urban planning, design, and management practices.
