Centre for the Study of Contemporary Women's Writing (CCWW)
Description
The Centre for the Study of Contemporary Women's Writing (CCWW) promotes and facilitates national and international research on contemporary literature authored by women in French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish (including Catalan and Galician). With a primary focus on post-1968 authors and texts, the CCWW's activities and events delve into a rich and captivating corpus. However, the Centre also encourages a broader interpretation of the term 'contemporary.'
Formally launched on 16th October 2009, the Centre marked its inauguration with a reading titled 'Writing Childhood,' featuring esteemed authors Ana LuĂsa Amaral, Anna Mitgutsch, and Nicoletta Vallorani. In 2019, the Centre celebrated its 10th anniversary through a series of events that showcased the diverse range of its work.
The CCWW has outlined several objectives, including:
- Serving as an umbrella organization for scholars interested in women's writing within each of the Centre's language areas.
- Stimulating and hosting networking opportunities among researchers.
- Fostering cross-cultural collaboration among scholars specializing in contemporary women's writing.
- Providing a range of online research resources.
- Organizing both single-language and cross-cultural events such as conferences, workshops, study days, seminars, book launches, author readings, reading groups, and round-table discussions.
- Generating, facilitating, and conducting research projects, particularly those involving comparative and cross-cultural collaborations.
The Centre welcomes Associate Members and Visiting Fellows.
