Description
The Centre for the Study of Cultural Memory (CCM) was established at the Institute of Languages, Cultures and Societies (ILCS) to promote and facilitate national and international research in memory studies. It provided a forum for modern linguists, literary scholars, historians, cultural critics, sociologists, practising artists and others with an interest in the research and study of memory.
It organised a programme of seminars, conferences and workshops, including the Cultural Memory Seminar, and offered web-based resources such as podcasts and recordings of previous events and an international bibliography in memory studies. In 2024 the Centre was incorporated into the core activities of ILCS, which runs its seminar programme centrally.
