Image, Sound, Performance
Description
The research group focusing on Image, Sound, and Performance boasts particular expertise in embodied performance, visual studies and soundscapes.
They have been pioneers in developing a translational understanding of cultural studies of film and literature. This group also aims to develop projects that trial co-creation and co-curation practices with communities. The group envisions approaching the themes through their ability to challenge borders and create new spaces where new subjectivities might be imagined. One of their objectives is to work towards overturning established cultural hierarchies and interrogating cultural value, especially through popular cultures and the ways in which taste is expressed by those who have traditionally policed the borders of performance and artistic practice.
The group emphasises their engagement across languages and geographical areas with various types of performance. They actively pursue collaboration within and beyond the University of Liverpool to strengthen the potential for networked research projects.
