Description
The Centre for Digital Humanities and Social Sciences (DigHumSS) at the University of Liverpool endeavours to facilitate and support researchers from various disciplines within the Faculty to explore the development, deployment, uses, applications, and social effects of digital technologies and tools. DigHumSS comprises a team of interdisciplinary researchers from diverse fields such as computer and data science, engineering, heritage, sociology, communications, critical linguistics, geography, and information studies. Many colleagues working within the Centre also contribute to the University's institutional Digital Research theme. The Centre's scope covers a broad spectrum of digital effects ranging from Augmented Reality (AR) to consumerism, finance to automation, and is based around the following sub-themes:
- Heritage and Digital Technologies
- AI/Digital
- Big Data and Digital Inclusion
- Critical Digital Culture/s
- Machine Learning and Engineering
- Digital Health and Critical Medical Humanities; Science, Technology and Society
As digital technologies continue to significantly impact human lives and work, the Centre for Digital Humanities aims to utilise digital tools to advance academic research and document their impact on the world.
The Digital Humanities and Social Sciences Research Network brings together multidisciplinary researchers from across the University who are interested in exploring digital tools and technologies and their applications and social impacts. The network is open to all research colleagues and particularly welcomes Early Career Researchers and Postgraduate Students from various departments.
