Intelligence, Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS) Cluster
Description
The Intelligence, Security and Strategic Studies (ISSS) research group focuses on developing theoretical approaches to various aspects of security, and takes an interdisciplinary approach to the subject. Its research covers diverse areas such as national security intelligence, management of security crises, cyber threats to nuclear weapons, and security in outer space, as well as innovative and interdisciplinary approaches to conflict and security.
The group is actively involved in impact and professional engagement activities, particularly in nuclear weapons policy, space policy, and intelligence and security practice. Additionally, the ISSS has a strong regional expertise in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Middle East, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
The ISSS also hosts a thriving postgraduate research community and welcomes applications for doctoral research on the topics mentioned above. The department offers a variety of postgraduate taught programs, which include the following affiliated courses: MA Human Rights and Global Ethics (campus-based or distance learning), MA International Relations and World Order (campus-based or distance learning), MA Intelligence and Security (distance learning only), MA International Security (campus-based only), and MA Politics of Conflict and Violence (distance learning only).
