Global Ethics and Political Theory Cluster (GEPT)
Description
The Global Ethics and Political Theory (GEPT) cluster aims to challenge traditional liberal thought and examine what it means to belong. Researchers in this cluster explore the conceptual and territorial borders of liberalism, including issues of slavery, gender, statelessness, and justice for marginalized groups like children and animals.
The group's research themes include self-ownership, self-sovereignty, self-censorship, justice, citizenship, the state, deportation, and migration. The GEPT cluster is affiliated with the MA in Human Rights and Global Ethics, as well as the department's doctoral program. Regular seminars and workshops are held to facilitate discussion and idea-sharing among academics and research students. The group welcomes PhD applications in areas such as the borders of liberalism, citizenship, statelessness, recognition, rights (including children's and animal rights), slavery, self-ownership, and social justice.
