Tizard Centre

Description

The Tizard Centre is a leading UK academic centre working in autism, learning disability and community care.

The Centre has a commitment to social justice and its work is underpinned by values relating to anti-discriminatory practice, social equality and rights. People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) and their families are the Centre's main focus, as is work on the health, care and education systems surrounding them. This distinctive approach allows the Centre to make a sustained positive difference to their lives.

The Centre is also pioneering in its focus on people with more complex needs. This work includes deinstitutionalisation, work on sexuality, supported employment, autism and challenging behaviour.
