Aesthetics Research Centre (ARC)

Description

The Aesthetics Research Centre (ARC) coordinates, enables and promotes research in philosophy of art and aesthetics at the University of Kent. ARC brings together faculty and postgraduate students from four different departments and three different schools and is characterised by a strong interdisciplinary ethos.

The group has particular research expertise around visual art forms including painting, photography and film; depiction and representation; intersections between ethics and aesthetics; beauty, taste and the sublime in 18th century aesthetics; the aesthetics of popular music; the interrelations between art and science; and topics in the contemporary philosophy of art.
