History Research Group, Greenwich

Description

The History Research Group's research interests are diverse in chronological and thematic terms, but the group format provides a focus for its activities, a forum for discussion of research and knowledge exchange strategy, culture and funding, and facilitates collaboration between its members. The group maintains close links with historians working in other institutions in London and beyond, through research projects and seminar participation. Members organise a range of seminar activities reflecting the group's diverse interests.

The group has expertise in the history of Ottoman empire, and its legacies, and the British empire in and beyond South Asia. Its work also explores cultural and environmental histories of water, energy and the city. The group also explores social, cultural and political histories, from early modern home and household economies, through children and childhood to questions of gender, politics and suffrage.
