John Smith Centre

Description

The mission of the John Smith Centre is to promote trust in politics and public service.

The centre mission is to make a positive case for politics and public service, promote civilised debate, and defend representative democracy by conducting high-quality research. Additionally, the centre aims to support talented individuals who lack the means to access politics and public life.

The centre was founded due to a growing sentiment that politics has become a discredited and disrespected process, which dissuades capable individuals from entering politics. Members believes that this issue is critical to the social and economic wellbeing of the country and that the most able and willing should represent the people.

The centre promotes its positive vision for representative politics through a range of activities, which can be found on its website. Members also offer opportunities for individuals to get involved with their work, such as attending events, participating in programs, and supporting projects.
