Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI)

Description

The Environment and Sustainability Institute (ESI) is an interdisciplinary centre leading cutting-edge research into the problems of, and solutions to, environmental change. The world class research and education undertaken by the ESI aims to support natural systems for more sustainable futures. ESI contributions are focused on ecosystem dynamics including biodiversity renewal, renewable energy development and the importance of partnerships and public engagement in delivering change.

The ESI, which opened in 2013, was made possible by funding from the European Regional Development Fund Convergence Programme and the South West Regional Development Agency. So, whilst much of ESI's research and activities are national or international in scope, members ensure that Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly are at the heart of ESI's endeavours. The Institute is proud to contribute to the environmental, educational and economic futures of Cornish communities.
