Phenomenology and Existentialism Cluster

Description

Phenomenological and existentialism are central concerns for Philosophy at Essex with students exploring phenomenological approaches to subjects such as perception, ethics and psychiatric disorders.

Cluster members have published extensivley on Nietzche, Heidegger, Levinas, Løgstrup, Kierkegaard, Merleau-Ponty, Husserl, Foucault and Derrida. Themes include post-Heideggerian French philosophy, ethics and the phenomenology of depression, moral psychology and agency and on the relationship between phenomenology and art.
