European Ethnological Research Centre

Description

Launched in 2011, this innovative project collects and makes widely available primary source material that illustrates everyday life and society in Scotland, past and present, and produces supporting scholarly studies. Its overall aim is to lay the foundations for a comprehensive ethnology of Scotland.

The Project is being conducted over a series of regional studies, and is divided into two main themes: the Spoken Word, and the Written Word. Local participation is at the heart of the Project, with volunteers having the opportunity to get involved in all aspects of the collecting process, from recording interviews to transcribing historical documents.
