Description

The Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies' interests are global, including European, Islamic, American and Asian studies.

Projects involving staff from the Centre for Medieval and Renaissance Studies include:

  • Beyond Macbeth:Shakespeare in Scottish Collections
  • Religion in Late Medieval Scotland
  • Early Modern Rome Research Network

Subjects taught include history, history of art and architecture, languages and literatures, music, divinity, archaeology, law, Celtic and Scottish studies and Islamic studies. There are many opportunities for research degrees at both Masters and doctoral level.

Members welcome everyone interested in research in medieval and renaissance studies to the Centre’s activities, many of which are organised in conjunction with colleagues at museums, galleries, libraries and archives in Edinburgh.
