Arts and Humanities Research Institute (AHRI)
Description
Founded in 2009 and based in the School of Humanities, the Arts and Humanities Research Institute (AHRI) promotes the School’s research mission and the work of humanities researchers. Its activity is overseen by the School Research and Knowledge Exchange Committee.
AHRI core mission is:
- To support research excellence in arts and humanities.
- To build bridges between disciplines within and beyond arts and humanities.
- To promote partnership-based research with civil society and industry.
- To create a world-class environment for research postgraduates to enable them to become leaders in their fields.
The AHRI houses five research centres and is a member of several other centres or research clusters shared with other HEIs. It is also a member of the Consortium of Institutes of Advanced Studies, and of the Scottish Graduate School for Arts and Humanities (SGSAH) which offers AHRC funding for doctoral research.
