Cultures of Memory Research Group

Description

Memory studies is a truly multidisciplinary enterprise, with origins in fields as a diverse as cultural studies, neuroscience, oral history, political science, and computing. However, research within these fields rarely bridges the divide between humanities and sciences. This research group will be focused upon the creation of spaces for the discussion, development and dissemination of memory work from across Newcastle University. In particular, the group will look at the role of multiple forms of memory (the personal, the collective, the artificial, the hybrid) within contemporary societies at a time of immense social, cultural and technological transformation.
