UCL Judicial Institute

Description

The UCL Judicial Institute is a centre of excellence devoted to research, teaching and policy engagement about the judiciary, presented as the first and only centre of its kind in the UK. It works to advance public understanding of the judiciary’s central role in politics and society through evidence-based policy advice, research-led education and public engagement.

Its research includes the UK Judicial Attitude Survey, the UCL Jury Project’s studies of jury decision-making in criminal courts with actual jurors, sentencing research and comparative work on the rule of law, and its members are closely involved in judicial training in England and Wales and further afield. The Institute is based at the UCL Faculty of Laws in Bentham House.
