Centre for the Study of Colonialism, Empire and International Law

Description

Building on the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS)’s unique remit to develop research on the global south, the centre for the study of Colonialism, Empire and International Law (CCEIL) is a hub for inter-disciplinary collaboration and research on public international law and its historical and contemporary relationship to colonialism and empire.

The centre’s research is organised into three research streams:

  • International legal history
  • Race, gender, and sexuality
  • International regulation of violence
