Welsh Place-Name Society

Description

The general aim of the Society is to:

• promote the awareness, study and understanding of the place-names of Wales;
• consider the relationship between the place-names of Wales and the languages, landscape, history and culture of the country;
• protect the place-names of Wales.

To achieve its aims, the Society also intends to:

• support individuals and groups in recording, analysing and interpreting place-names;
• disseminate information about place-names;
• publish a newsletter about the place-names of Wales;
• maintain a website about the place-names of Wales;
• host an annual conference.
