Welsh Place-Name Society
Description
The general aim of the Society is to:
- promote the awareness, study and understanding of the place-names of Wales;
- consider the relationship between the place-names of Wales and the languages, landscape, history and culture of the country;
- protect the place-names of Wales.
To achieve its aims, the Society also intends to:
- support individuals and groups in recording, analysing and interpreting place-names;
- disseminate information about place-names;
- publish a newsletter about the place-names of Wales;
- maintain a website about the place-names of Wales;
- host an annual conference.
