Description

The Institute for Creativity and Technology focuses on new approaches to interactivity and immersive technology, social innovation applied to design and culture, and commercial research in the creative industries.

Its specialisms include immersive and augmented realities, wearable tech, Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality for learning, Smart Cities and urban design, new filming and narrative technologies, and innovation in materials and production techniques.

At Ravensbourne people embed research within the culture of the Institute and Ravensbourne by encouraging staff and students to engage in both academic and practice-based research. Members’ reach extends widely into sectors including mental health, engineering, construction, sport and entertainment.

The Institute’s technology specialists and extensive community of partners are committed to merging theory with practice-based research, with the aim of turning experiments into impactful reality.

The Institute is made of six component parts which make for one unique offer. These are:

  • CreativeLab: The Institute’s in-house creative agency offering insight, connectivity, innovative thinking, new approaches and fresh solutions to industry partners.
  • Incubation+: A collective founded on connections and collaborative working. It provides extensive commercial support to graduates and businesses including accelerator programmes, business mentoring, exposure to investors, commercial partnerships, networking events, and branding expertise from the Institute's in-house creative team.
  • Research department: Home to an experimental research community that explores the potential of creative technologies. It has an international reputation as a research partner on innovative digital projects, working with industry and government in the UK and beyond.
