Sexual Cultures Research Group
Description
The Sexual Cultures Research Group (SexCult) is an initiative led by academics in the School of English and Drama at Queen Mary University of London.
The research group actively fosters and develops cross-disciplinary conversations about methodologies, representations, texts and practices related to sex, sexuality, gender, and their intimate and public cultures. In conceiving of ‘sexual cultures’, members are committed to thinking about sexuality in relation to other identity-forming discourses, including but not limited to race and ethnicity, class, ability, gender, and trans lives and experiences.
They meet for closed reading groups for the steering committee and academic group members, as well as lively public events that provide spaces for reflection on the complexities of sexuality and its cultures.
