Cambridge Interfaith Programme
Description
The Cambridge Interfaith Programme (CIP, est. 2002) is a research and engagement centre based in the Faculty of Divinity at the University of Cambridge, working to catalyse and disseminate inter- (and intra-) religious research, with longstanding commitment to partnership working and the public good.
In addition to enabling cutting-edge research, CIP activities include provision of online and residential summer schools (for academic researchers and professionals), consultation with government and cultural bodies, and provision of developmental support for postgraduate and early career researchers at the University of Cambridge.
In 2022, CIP established the Cambridge Interfaith Research Forum to enable University of Cambridge researchers at all levels to exchange scholarship aligned with our goals, and to develop skills relevant to our commitments to outreach and public engagement. At the end of 2023, there were more than 40 members from a dozen different University departments and faculties.
Our core team contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in the Faculty of Divinity, including the MPhil pathway in Religion and Conflict. Current research projects range encompass environmental concerns (Water efficiency in faith and diverse communities), Muslim–Jewish relations (e.g., Holocaust memory and Muslim belonging in postwar Germany), religious education and inter-religious encounter (see especially work on Materialities), and more besides.
