Cambridge Centre for the Study of Platonism (CCSP)
Description
The Cambridge Centre for the Study of Platonism is a forum for research on the Platonic tradition, particularly Neoplatonism, its sources, significance and legacy. The Centre’s interests range widely across history and disciplinary boundaries, from the roots of Platonism in classical antiquity, though its intertwining with the theologies of the three Abrahamic faiths in the Middle Ages and its resurgence in the Renaissance in the West, to its influence on the new thinking of early modernity and German Idealism and its literary impact from the Romantic poets to the Inklings. ‘Neoplatonism’ is thus a term that denotes not so much one school of philosophy, but rather an intellectual paradigm and a way of life, disseminating its influence in myriad forms of thought and culture. The Cambridge Centre for the Study of Platonism is committed to both the significance of this tradition and its enduring relevance down to the modern day.
