Contemporary Arts Research Forum (CARF)

Description

CARF is a regular forum for the  exploration of research possibilities in the interdisciplinary fields of contemporary arts practice.

Based in Newcastle upon Tyne UK, the forum hosts creative and critical exchanges between Northumbria University academic staff, graduate researchers and visiting national and international artists, curators, theorists, performers, critics and historians.

CARF embraces continuing debate about the nature of creative arts research, its purpose and methods, and its value in relation to new developments in other academic disciplines and within public culture.

CARF offers occasions for research sharing and peer-to-peer learning in fine art, theatre and performance, visual and material culture, film and media and beyond.

It provides a supportive context for the presentation of new research and work-in-progress within and across these areas and provides opportunities for members of the public to engage with research undertaken at Northumbria.
