Description
The Centre for Security Studies (CSS) is a multidisciplinary research centre based at Loughborough University. Located within Politics and International Studies, in the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, the centre brings together researchers from across the university to analyse emerging security challenges from a mix of innovative, cross-disciplinary perspectives. Members' research expertise cuts across five principal thematic areas:
- Crisis and Emergency Governance - Researchers contributing to the Peace and Conflict theme are committed to understand the complex social, historical and political dynamics of conflict and international peace-making.
- Diplomacy and International Governance - Researchers contributing to this stream of enquiry seek to critically investigate the contemporary character and historical development of global diplomacy and international governance.
- Gender and Security - The relationship between gender and security remains central to the way that security and peace are understood in scholarship, policy and practice and is a vital area of study.
- International Political Theory - Researchers in the International Political Theory look to apply, refine and challenge the various paradigms of making sense of global politics.
- Peace and Conflict - Researchers contributing to the Peace and Conflict theme are committed to understand the complex social, historical and political dynamics of conflict and international peace-making.
