African Studies Association of the UK (ASAUK)
Description
A major aim of the ASAUK is to facilitate linkages between UK and African institutions and between scholars in Africa and the UK. ASAUK supports African scholars publishing in Africanist journals published in the UK, scholarly journal publishing in Africa, scholarly book publishing in Africa, and the exchange of ideas in and about Africa. Its two major programmes, the ASAUK teaching fellowships and the ASAUK writing workshops are designed to support and strengthen the connections between academics in the UK and their colleagues in Africa. The aim is also to disseminate information and news to ASAUK members about scholarly research in Africa, and to facilitate scholarly initiatives. ASAUK particularly encourages early career scholars with an interest in African Studies to undertake the highest quality research and to remain involved in the field. Postgraduate research students registered in the UK are encouraged to join the ASAUK.
